Catalogue published in conjunction with the exhibition Matias Faldbakken - Effects of Good Government in the Pit (09.22.2017 - 01.28.2018).
This exhibition, entitled Effects of Good Government in the Pit, presented Faldbakken’s works and preoccupations from the last decade, during which he developed his project of questioning the function of objects and images in contemporary art and society. Conceived by the artist as a coherent installation, the constellation of videos, sculptures, collages, paintings and installations showcased his research and experimentation within different media.
The exhibition’s identity combined a photocopied painting by Norwegian romanticist artist Hans Fredrik Gude with utilitarian black-and-white typography.
The publication is divided into three paper types. Video works are printed on a blue stock while artworks are presented on a rough white without any accompanying text. The final section consists of several essays that are typeset on a bright red paper.
